Raising Minimum Wage for Restaurant Workers
A measure to gradually end Chicago's subminimum wage for tipped workers did not get a vote in City Council Wednesday and will head back to the rules committee. Mayor Brandon Johnson and labor activists argue this move could be a historic moment for thousands of restaurant workers, countering income inequality and benefiting the economy. The ordinance faces stiff opposition from the Illinois Restaurant Association. [The Guardian]
