New Migrant Data Portal
A new city website will provide weekly updates on how many migrants are arriving in Chicago. The data tracks not only shelter locations but also how many migrants are staying at shelters, police stations, and other spots. [Block Club]

Gang Database Officially Scrapped
The Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability voted to permanently remove the Chicago Police Department’s gang database, which was riddled with mistakes and found to be discriminatory. [CBS Chicago]

Red Line Extension Project Gets Big Bucks
Nearly $2 billion in federal dollars is going into helping extend the Red Line from 95th Street to 130th Street. [ABC7]

Is This Goodbye to Mariano’s?
Chicagoans might lose a beloved grocery store brand as Kroger and Albertsons, parent companies of Mariano’s and Jewel-Osco respectively, announced plans to sell 400 grocery stores, including 14 in Illinois. Part of the deal also includes selling off the Mariano’s brand name. [Eater]
