Chicago, the former “candy capital of the world,” once was home to companies that produced Snickers, Lemonheads, and more. But what’re the best candies with local ties? Hey Chicago Readers weighed in.

Best Chicago Candies

🍫 Patrick B.: “Nothing beats a fresh, crumbly Butterfinger. A friend told me to always buy the fun size bag at Halloween since that’s when they make the most and they’ll be at their freshest. If you’ve ever eaten an old, chewy Butterfinger that’s been on the shelf for a while, you understand.”

💚 Tricia G.: “Frango Mints are addictively delicious!”

🍬 Annie A.: “Mars wins for best Halloween candy and best overall. They are classics that can’t go wrong. The variety and seasonal elements of M&Ms, the unstoppable energy of the Snickers, the less-than-subtle gay pride euphemism of ‘taste the rainbow’ — it has it all.”

🤎 Zoe J.: “Snickers obv.”

One Reader Prefers a Healthier Option

💪 Nick H.: “I hand out Cliff Bars and Kind bars. Makes a great item for the lunch box.”

P.S. Did anyone pretend to eat all their kids’ candy like the Jimmy Kimmel bit? Those videos never fail to make me laugh.
