This week, seven Chicago residents were selected to serve on the permanent commission overseeing the city’s police department, a decision City Council will now have to confirm. Mayor Brandon Johnson was supposed to make his picks April 7. [WTTW]
Does Burke Deserve ‘Leniency?’
In a letter unsealed Tuesday, former mayoral candidate Paul Vallas asked a federal judge to show “leniency” to the former alder who was convicted on 13 of 14 corruption counts in December. Ed Burke is scheduled to be sentenced next month. [WGN]
