What's CITY Talking About?

The Griffin Museum of Science & Industry
The Jackson Park museum is being named after Citadel hedge fund manager Ken Griffin. The now-Florida resident donated $125 million to the museum in 2019, the largest donation in the institution’s history. The museum is celebrating its new name Sunday with free admission and new openings. [WGN]

Woodlawn Migrant Shelter Closed
There are no more migrants living at the former Wadsworth Elementary School, city officials confirmed Monday. The migrants who had been living there have been transferred to other city shelters. The site could be used as a backup shelter if there is a surge in new arrivals before the Democratic National Convention this summer but will be closed permanently in October. [CBS Chicago]
City Treasurer Fined $10K
The Chicago Board of Ethics fined Melissa Conyears-Ervin $10,000 for an ethics violation related to firing whistleblowers and misusing city resources. That’s on top of the $60,000 the board fined the city treasurer last month for violating her fiduciary duty, conducting prohibited political activity, and unauthorized use of city property. [WTTW]
