Alders passed an ordinance to keep ShotSpotter in Chicago after Mayor Brandon Johnson announced plans to cut ties with the controversial gunshot detection technology company. Could that lead to a rare mayoral veto? The fate of CTA President Dorval Carter is still up in the air after a symbolic resolution calling for his firing was blocked. Downtown Teen Curfew Sticking Around
Minors at Millennium Park and Maggie Daley Park will continue to need accompaniment by an adult 21 or older after 6 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. [Block Club]

City Beaches Open Friday
Lifeguards are set to be at Chicago beaches from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting Friday. Fargo Beach, Howard Beach, Humboldt Beach, Juneway Beach, and Rogers Beach are set to remain closed due to erosion. [WGN]
