Replacing Juvenile Detention Center
The Cook County Juvenile Detention Center will be downsized and replaced with smaller “centers of care,” according to a new plan from county officials. The five-story West Side juvenile center will be repurposed for the fewer than 50 kids who will remain in secure detention. [Injustice Watch]
Transit Board Appointee Withdraws Nomination
West Side Rev. Ira Acree withdrew his name Friday for consideration for the Regional Transportation Authority Board. He cited a lack of allies in his appointment to serve on the committee overseeing CTA, Metra, and Pace. [WGN]
