Cicada ‘Zombie’ Fungus Detected in Illinois
The fungus infects male cicadas, turning them into hyper-sexual “zombies” that seek to mate with as many other cicadas as possible. It can also cause birds that eat the bugs to hallucinate. [WGN]

The Bills That Didn’t Pass in Springfield
While the Illinois General Assembly passed hundreds of bills this session, and the governor signed a budget this week, lawmakers failed to pass key measures related to gun control, cannabis, and public transit. [WTTW]
