In the wake of a violent Fourth of July weekend in Chicago, Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Mayor Brandon Johnson, and city leaders committed to long-term investment in violence prevention programs. Business leaders pledged $100 million in private funding. [Sun-Times]
Bike Lane Ticketing Program Yet to Launch
Chicagoans are still waiting for the pilot program City Council approved in March 2023 to ticket drivers blocking bike and bus lanes. At a Wednesday hearing, council members approved an extension to the pilot’s end date, but a start date was not confirmed. [Block Club]
