City Hiring Freeze: Police, Fire Exempt
Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office said the hiring freeze announced earlier this week won’t affect the city’s police and fire departments. The city faces an almost $1 billion budget gap next year. [Sun-Times]
3 Migrant Shelters Closing
The city plans to close shelters in Pilsen and West Loop Oct. 1 and one at a Hyde Park hotel Oct. 24. The city said it has 5,000 unused beds across its migrant shelters as arrivals have slowed down. [ABC7]
