Planned Parenthood Closing Local Clinics
The organization’s Illinois chapter is shuttering its Englewood clinic and three others around the state in March due to financial challenges. Planned Parenthood of Illinois said it would keep its 13 other locations open and expand telehealth services. [Sun-Times]
Families Frustrated With CPS Turmoil
Parents of Chicago students are growing increasingly frustrated with ongoing disputes between Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Teachers Union, saying political battles are being prioritized over students' needs. Chicago’s Largest Land Sale in Years
The city is auctioning 812 vacant lots around the South and West sides as part of a bankruptcy case against two local sisters who accumulated more than $15 million in fines for property negligence. Many of the sisters' properties were unkempt and infested with rats. [Block Club]
Alders Outraged Over Public Art
Twenty-seven City Council members are demanding the removal of an artwork from the Chicago Cultural Center, calling it offensive and antisemitic. The art piece, titled “US-Israel War Machine,” features puppets portraying Uncle Sam and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. [WBEZ]
