Mayor’s Bond Plan Scrapes By
Despite concerns over long-term financial effects, City Council narrowly approved Mayor Brandon Johnson’s $830 million bond proposal in a 26-23 vote. The funds will be used for capital projects. [Fox32]
Thousands Wrongly Enrolled in State Health Program
In addition to finding people improperly enrolled, an audit shows two health insurance programs for noncitizens cost the state $1.6 billion since 2020 — well over what was projected when the programs began. [Tribune 🎁]

Chicago Park District Leader Steps Down
Rosa Escareno, general superintendent and CEO of the park district, has resigned, leaving yet another hole in city leadership. Escareno has worked for the city for decades and was appointed to the parks position by former Mayor Lori Lightfoot. [WGN]
Help Save Chicago’s Pigeons
Julia Ekiert, a doctoral student at University of Illinois Chicago, is petitioning the CTA to address a pigeon problem at the Clinton Green/Pink Line station. According to Ekiert, these birds keep getting stuck and dying in a narrow gap between the escalator and the tunnel wall. [Sun-Times]
