🏳️🌈 Chicago gay bars and landmarks
June 26, 2025 · — Emmi Mack
Hey Chicago! Ever feel wistful on Milwaukee Avenue? The diagonal street cuts through so many vibrant corners of the city, and each one tells a story. Some of those are chronicled here, in the Milwaukee Avenue Messenger’s inaugural issue. (Ya girl has a piece too — about my days kicking around Wicker Park.)
Now, onto the non-Milwaukee news 👇

What Chicago's Talking About

Gov. JB Pritzker To Run For Third Term
Gov. JB Pritzker is set to launch his campaign for a third term as Illinois governor today. Now, the question is who will join Pritzker on the ticket. His current lieutenant governor, Juliana Stratton, is running to replace the retiring Sen. Dick Durbin. The next gubernatorial election is November 2026 — though Pritzker may still be mulling a 2028 presidential bid. [Sun-Times]

Chicago’s Best Summer Clubs

3 Chicago Hospitals Struggle with Air Conditioning
Weiss Memorial Hospital in Uptown, West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, and Provident Hospital in Bronzeville are all facing severe air conditioning issues. For West Suburban, which is owned by the same group as Weiss, it was a problem even before the recent heat wave. As repairs are underway, some patients have been transferred. [NBC 5]
Links Hall Is Closing — But Not Before a Dance Marathon
After a sudden drop in grant money, Links Hall is closing its doors. The venue has been a Chicago hub for experimental performance and dance since 1978. Its final show, “Dusk,” will take place June 28 in the form of a free, day-long dance marathon. On a personal note, Links Hall’s annual Halloween “Twilight” cabaret will be missed. [WBEZ]
