1 Citizen Detained in Kristi Noem-Led Elgin Raid
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem led an immigration raid Tuesday morning in suburban Elgin. Agents blocked off an entire street and busted into the home of a U.S. citizen. Four people were “taken away.” [WBEZ]

Budget Task Force Recommends Property Tax Hikes
To close a projected $1.15 billion gap in next year’s budget, Mayor Brandon Johnson’s budget task force says Chicago must hike property taxes annually to keep up with inflation. Hiking city fees and fines are also in play. [WTTW]
Cubs Heading to the Playoffs
The Chicago Cubs clinched a spot in the Major Baseball League playoffs, beating the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday afternoon. They're the third team to secure a spot this year, alongside the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies. This is the first time the Cubs are in the playoffs in five years. [CBS Sports]
