🍝 The best spaghetti to slurp in Chicago

October 16, 2025 · — Emmi Mack

No thanks! That’s what Chicago airports say to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. O’Hare and Midway are refusing to play Noem’s video blaming flight delays on Democrats during the government shutdown.

Nobody Wants Lots from Chicago's 'Worst Landowner’

Suzie B. Wilson and her sister have amassed over $15 million in unpaid rat-related violations across vacant lots on the South and West sides. To pay off debts, they’re trying to sell the lots via auction — a plan the city signed off on. So far, however, very few buyers are interested. [Block Club]

Chicagoans Are Blowing Whistles

Chicagoans are no snitches … except when it comes to ICE. Hundreds showed up to Whistlemania events Tuesday to assemble whistle kits that alert neighbors of nearby immigration agents. Other Chicagoans are honking horns. [Block Club, New York Times]

Fence Around Broadview Facility Comes Down

Tuesday night, an hour before the court-ordered deadline, crews took down the fence surrounding the ICE facility in Broadview. Federal officials put up the fence weeks ago amid ongoing protests but Broadview pushed back, saying the Department of Homeland Security had no permit. A judge ruled in the village’s favor last week.
