What's CITY Talking About

CPS CEO Search, Psychiatric Care, and Magic

The search is still ongoing for a new CEO of Chicago Public Schools and it’s unclear how much longer it’ll take. Goodbye, State/Lake Station (For Now!)

CTA State/Lake Station is getting a glow-up! The 130-year old station will close for demolition Jan. 5, but Loop trains will continue to operate during construction, and you can board at nearby Clark/Lake or Washington/Wabash. You can expect its replacement to open in 2029. [WTTW]

More Trouble at South Shore Building

Nearly three dozen residents of the deteriorating 7500 South Shore Drive apartments that were raided by federal immigration agents in September have unionized and are protesting a surprise relocation deadline of Dec. 12. The tenant union is calling for at least 60 days to move out, as well as $7,500 in relocation funds per resident, and help with nearby apartment placement. [WBEZ]

Experts call the government’s tactics “dangerous.” [Block Club]
