Mayor Seeks to Pause Data Centers

Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order that aims to enact new regulations for data centers coming up in Chicago. As regulations get drafted, he’s also urging City Council to enact a temporary moratorium on new data center projects. Currently, Chicago has 39 data centers of varying sizes. [ABC 7]

The state spent $27 million to build an Aspira charter school on Milwaukee Avenue. Now the building’s on the verge of being sold for less than half of that. After Aspira filed for bankruptcy and abruptly closed two schools in March, the network wants to use proceeds from the sale to pay off debts and fund ongoing operations. [Sun-Times]

Connection Between Mishandled Remains

A dozen of the bodies found improperly stored at Bohemian National Cemetery in North Park came from South Chicago Chapel — the South Deering funeral home where more than 50 decomposing human bodies were removed. Ten at Bohemian came from Planet Green Cremations, which has connections to South Chicago Chapel. [Block Club]
